The erosion of democracy and the vision of a new world

Author: Dr. Noam Chomsky on May 6, 2009, Category: After capitalism - Prout

Foreword to the book "After Capitalism" Dada Maheshvaranandy

Dr. Noam Chomsky

Financial leaders of rich countries, who meet every year at the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland), were called by the world's leading business magazine "The London Financial Times, the rulers of the universe." This term is used with a touch of irony perhaps, but is rather accurate. This group is not elected in a general way, and represents a monstrous financial power, a non-no benefit ordinary people. For example, in 1970 approximately 90% of the capital was invested in international trade and long-term investments, which is more or less productive, while only 10% speculation. By 1990 these proportions were reversed.
